Did you ever wake up in the morning with dark under-eye circles? Me, all the time…. Whether it is from a sleepless night, stress, or even genetics, deep purple bags are a harmless-yet-frustrating to most of us.
You can have the best eye creams and serums but we all know that it will take time to diminish their appearance. But if you need a quick fix, the best way to cover them up is with a top-of-the-line concealer.
I tend to wear makeup everyday of the week and usually opt for natural looks when I am working or out and about. I always wear some kind of sheer foundation along with concealer, cream blush, bronzer, highlighter, brow gel, and mascara. Concealer plays a big role in my daily routine because I have dark circles and broken capillaries around my nose. My skin tends to get red in that area, and I always apply concealer to even it out.
My dark circles are one of my top concerns, and I never go without wearing concealer under my eyes, either.
While you may think every concealer in the beauty aisle does the same thing, think again. We do have many options to choose from, but given my dark circles that are coming more from genetics, I usually opt for the ones that feature pink and orange or beige undertones to balance out the blue-purple colour under my eyes.
To help you make the right choice here are my tried and tested concealers:
Cle de peau Concealer
This is my all time favourite concealer, I have used Cle de peau concealer for a very long time and it never disappointed me.
This concealer delivers long-lasting, full coverage while correcting the appearance of dark circles, spots, imperfections and uneven tone without a heavy finish. It leaves skin looking smooth and refined with a seamless finish while protecting against UV rays.
Beauty Editors and celebrities have touted this as the best concealer in the world, and for good reason — it covers everything. It does a good job covering up blemishes, just dot a small amount in the centre of a pimple, then pat in and blend out around the edges, it reduces the appearance of dark circles, just pat on with fingers or a soft concealer brush, and it evens out pigmentation like sun spots and darkened acne marks
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
This concealer is one of the most popular on Sephora and it is their very best seller for a long time now. Some fans love this product so much that they buy several shades (there are 6 in total) and use them for highlighting and contouring.
I use both Nars and cle de peau on my beauty routine every day, combine them and pat until I get the ideal coverage that I am happy with.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
This concealer is a full coverage formula, so if you are looking for long wear and full coverage, this is the one!
Countless beauty influencers have hailed the concealer a holy grail, from Jeffree Star to James Charles and Tati Westbrook to Zoella.
It is highly-pigmented, creamy liquid and applies easily, delivering full coverage.
I usually reach out to this baby when I do full make up and I want full coverage, it does smooth and brightens and make my under eyes lifted. However whenever I go for full coverage, after a few hours I do have some creases, but this can be easily fixed with some re-application and powder.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer
This concealer is supposed to be a “feel good” one, meaning that when you apply it you will feel like there’s something special and beneficial.
It is marketed to target many age ranges, including mature skin with fine lines and dry under eyes. When I apply it, it comes out rather creamy and a bit thick but then I blend it with a beauty blender until I get that silky finish.
I can say the finish is pretty blurry, perfect for someone who worries about pores. This concealer works beautiful on fine lines and mature skin as mentioned above. The hydration in it also helps to achieve that youthful look when my under eyes are looking very tired. Its luminous look is probably what I adore about this concealer.
I also really like how it looks natural when you apply it on, however it needs to be set with powder lightly if you have oily skin like me: set it very well, my dear, same as with all of those hydrating concealers out there!
