The Downfall of Loud Logo Brands and the Rise of Quiet Luxury

The rise of Quiet Luxury and the Downfall of big logo brands

Women and men everywhere are turning the tables on logo-obsessed fashion trends and trading in their bold logos for subtle sophistication or what we now call “Quiet Luxury”, and we’ve rounded up all you need to know about this chic trend. Why have loud logo brands lost their lustre lately and why more women are gravitating toward understated designer pieces that make an impact without being too showy?

Some of the popular titles I have seen lately on Youtube videos and blogs are about “Luxury is over”, and “Should we wear Luxury or buy luxury bags?”

So Why Luxury is Rumoured to be Over?

I think it is mainly related to the current economy, based on the industry you are in, like, for example, the tech industry where I am, there have been a lot of layoffs recently, so there is an impact on the way we spend our money and we are very cautious about spending our money on designer bags or clothes. Another reason could be that we do not want to wear and flaunt big logos in front of everybody right now, especially those who are suffering financially or who are not doing well and this is completely understandable.

A Look Back on Brand Logos’ Past Dominance

For years, the world of fashion was heavily dominated by designer logos. At first, it was about the jewels you had around your neck or the furs in your wardrobe. Later on, luxury was labeled by the logos on your handbags. Showy pieces were everywhere and logos on clothing, bags and accessories were the go-to for people who wanted to make a statement about their style. Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Gucci with their monograms were everywhere, as were bold and oversized logos of Balenciaga, Versace, and Burberry.

The New Norm – Quiet Luxury

However, I believe that this is not just a new trend right now, which is the rise of quiet luxury, in brands like The Row, Delvaux, Bottega Veneta, Loro Piana and Brunello Cucinelli, which are getting more traction lately. I have mixed feeling about that, on the positive side I understand why we want something that is a more quiet luxury, it is probably good quality and it does not have logos, so it is a lot safer so nobody knows what it is, and “when you know you know!”. The other part is it feels like you are dressing like someone who is wealthy and who is looking expensive, but then calling it like you are dressing like “old money” which is odd I find personally. Obviously, no one should feel like they have to pretend to be rich or pretend to like luxury, but finding a balance is important to be true to ourselves!

The other thing that I think is more relatable, people are starting to care more about quality items that last longer, and those who are into luxury would know that for example Chanel bags quality is not what it used to be before and quality is not there anymore sometimes, same for Louis Vuitton canvas is not the old same canvas, so people do not want to pay for them anymore, especially with their crazy price increases lately!! If you are taking away the quality, then you are taking that investment aspect of it, where people that used to buy designer items that will last them a lifetime or probably resell them years after.

To conclude, with the economic uncertainty and people being more conscious of their purchases nowadays, there is going to be a slow down in how much people are buying, but I think we can all agree that quiet luxury provides a perfect balance between quality and style without breaking the bank or showing off too much. The downfall of loud logo brands and the rise of quiet luxury is here to stay! If you are looking for an understated chic look with a hint of sophistication, this trend is perfect for you. Invest in timeless pieces that will last you for years to come and make sure you pick quality items that will stand the test of time. With a few well-chosen pieces, you can create a capsule wardrobe and look effortlessly chic without looking like you’re trying too hard.

Overall, I think dressing like you want is the most important thing, if you feel or like what you are wearing, then go for it! We should not judge anyone for what they are wearing, because fashion is about expressing yourself in a way that makes you feel comfortable.
